Garlic Jaggery Chutney

Garlic has many medicinal uses, it is really worth to invite it to be part of our cooking. It cures heart disease, reduces LDL cholesterol and cure Intestinal cancers. It also lowers the blood pressure & act as a cure for rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Garlic - 12/15 pods
  • Tomato - 1/2
  • Red chilli -1
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2tsp
  • Urad dhal - 1 tsp
  • Tamarind paste
  • Jaggery - 2 tbsp
  • Hing - 1 tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil


Heat oil in a kadai. 

Add urad dhal, red chilli, hing, tamarind paste and curry leaves.  Fry it for 2-3 minutes. Keep it aside.
Add garlic flakes and chopped tomatos. Cook it for 5-7 minutes in medium flame. Once done, remove from the heat and allow it to cool. 

Add Jaggery and put all these ingredients in a mixie and make it as a fine paste.
Add required amount of salt. Do a seasoning with mustard seeds and corriander leaves.
Serve it with Idly.
